We invite you to honor your loved ones on THE NEW MEMORIAL BOARD.
It has just arrived and has been installed at Chabad of Novato.
The importance of the Memorial Board at shul: Honoring our loved ones is an integral part of Judaism. Having a Memorial board at the synagogue is a permanent and beautiful way to remember the departed. It provides a lasting tribute to our loved ones.
Each plaque has a flame which will be illuminated during the month of their yahrzeit (anniversary of passing), during High Holidays and on the holiday when Yizkor is recited.
The Memorial board and artist: Do you ever pause to read a synagogue memorial board? Few do. Inspired by the biblical verse "Let the living take heart!" this memorial board from it from the experience of a solemn reminder of loved ones lost, to a meaningful celebration of the lives they led.
The memorial board, known as "Jerusalem of Gold" is original handmade art with a gorgeous mosaic of sunset in Jerusalem, filled with good deeds and Jewish life themes. It was crafted by famed jewish artist Michoel Muchnik.
His art has been displayed around the world.
His imaginative and joyful depiction of traditional and mystical Jewish themes brought him critical acclaim and international prominence as a most beloved Jewish artist. (Adina and I are huge fans of his work and we have his art hanging in our home.)
