As a kid, I went to Hebrew School and I have such fond memories of the Jewish songs and loving environment. When I moved to Marin, I didn’t know if I would find a warm place for my sons. And then I met Chabad of Novato. I right away felt a connection and signed up my son, Aviv, for their Hebrew School. He came home singing the same songs I remember. It was very powerful for me to see that he's learning so much and coming home asking questions about G‑d, a mitzvah, a mezuzah … he really picked up on all the lessons in such a fun way. It’s such a warm, loving place to be. I drop him off for two whole hours, but when I pick him up he says, “Wait. I don’t want you to pick me up today.” It makes me emotional just thinking about how much I love it here and how enriching it is to be a part of this community. It doesn’t even stop with just Hebrew School. Aviv brings home the songs and teachings to his younger brother Shalev. Whenever there is a Jewish holiday, my son wants to go and be a part of it. My husband loves joining in the Dad’s Scotch & Torah evenings.
Chabad of Novato truly touches each and every one of us. I want more and more families and kids to enjoy this amazing place.

Hi, my name is Nathan Shumakher and this past year was my very first year in Chabad Hebrew School of Novato.
What I love most about Hebrew School is the friends. There were a bunch of boys my age and we all love playing sports together and learning together.
I love learning about my heritage, and learning how to read Hebrew.
It makes me so proud to be Jewish.
Thank you to my parents for sending me to Hebrew School so that I can learn and grow, and understand what it means to be Jewish.
