If, as King Solomon says, ‘charm is falseness and beauty is vain’, then why does the Torah go to such great length to describe the beauty of the matriarchs. What is beauty? And why do we find it attractive?

What you said brings to mind something that i read in the women's siddur, about Rachel that reminded me of my grandmother Gertrude Haye Woodard:
THERE IS NO GREATER BEAUTY THAN SOMEONE OR SOMETHING PERFECTLY SUITED TO HER/HIS, ORDAINED ROLE!
