What a wonderful way to start Grow JKC! This weeks session focused on understanding that other people have different perspectives, feelings and desires. We did through an improv skit with Goldilocks and Abraham, discussion and games!
Continuing on the theme of Hachnosat orchim - treating others with kindness and respect and learning emotional intelligence, we did a team baking experiment, where the children learned to see things from each others perspective. We wore our decorated "perceptive glasses" to make sure to include everyone and to turn the lesson in to a tangible experience.
A great lesson! We delved in to the story of Abraham and his unique way of hosting his guests. We used our creative minds to make the best party, and learned lots in the process. The older group performed an amazing improv skit to everyone's delight. See you next Tuesday!
Yesterday at JKC, we painted our very own Mezuah clay cases, and learned about prayer and our communication with G-D. We played fun games and had meaningful discussions on the topic! Next week is the final one of the series, don't forget to sign up for the next 3 part series "Chanukah art series" begining Dec 1
Through creating our own colored beeswax Menorah candles and crafting a beautiful wooden box to store them in, we learned the story of Chanukah, how we observe it and its relevance in our life!
We enjoyed a Chanukah party, reviewing the story, and learning the deeper meaning of Chanukah, along with message of the dreidel, the Latkas and the donuts. We lit the menorah together, sang Chanukah songs, built our own (and very cool!) Lego dreidel and played fun Chanukah games.
The creative and artistic talent of the children flourished as they painted beautiful canvas menorahs. We learned valuable lessons from Chanukah through fun experiments. We discuss how each one of us can make this world a brughter place and practically apply this lesson by undertaking a Mitvzah and writing it down on a paper flame. The children will work hard on implementing and brighten our world!
We learned about the Jewish value of Tzedakah - charity, compassion, kindness, and giving. The children made their own fleece scarf to be sent to Jewish children in an orphanage in Ukraine to help them through this cold season. See you next tuesday, Jan 12 as we learn about our Divine dress code
What a blast, learning about special Mitzvot connected with Purim, seeing the inside a real megillah, dancing with the special Torah saved from the ashes of Kristallnacht, making our our Ourim baskets to gift to thers! SO much fun!!!!
